Birds and Flowers of Florida Hair Wreath

Birds and Flowers of Northwest Florida Hair Wreath

Valona G. Brookins donated this hair wreath made by her grandmother, Laurena Johnson Cutter. It represents the flowers and birds found in North Florida. It won first place at a show in Boston circa 1860. Laurena Johnson Cutter was from Florida, but married a man from Massachusetts and soon moved up north. She created this hair wreath as a momento of her beloved hometown.

It is now on display in the Dorr House in Historic Pensacola Village.
